Greed
What does wanting more actually get a person? The commandment against coveting starts the answer: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house.” Proverbs says that “he that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house” (15:27), and Isaiah describes leaders as “greedy dogs which can never have enough” (56:11). Greed in these verses is rarely a private matter; it spills onto neighbours, the poor and the household. The prayer of Agur is a quiet counterweight: “give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me” (Proverbs 30:8). Start there, then read Ecclesiastes 4.
