Courtship

Scripture’s love stories are short on romance and long on faithfulness. Isaac “took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her” (Genesis 24:67), after a servant travelled far to find her. Jacob “served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her” (Genesis 29:20). Ruth and Boaz meet in a field and settle matters at the city gate. These accounts describe families, promises and patience shaping how couples came together; they do not set one pattern for everyone. Read Genesis 24 first.
