Chapter 57

To the chief Musician{H8764)}, Altaschith{H8686)}, Michtam of David, when he fled{H8800)} from Saul in the cave. Be merciful{H8798)} unto me, O God, be merciful{H8798)} unto me: for my soul trusteth{H8804)} in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge{H8799)}, until these calamities be overpast{H8799)}.

I will cry{H8799)} unto God most high; unto God that performeth{H8802)} all things for me.

He shall send{H8799)} from heaven, and save{H8686)} me from the reproach{H8765)} of him that would swallow me up{H8802)}. Selah. God shall send forth{H8799)} his mercy and his truth.

My soul is among lions: and I lie{H8799)} even among them that are set on fire{H8802)}, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Be thou exalted{H8798)}, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

They have prepared{H8689)} a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down{H8804)}: they have digged{H8804)} a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen{H8804)} themselves. Selah.

My heart is fixed{H8737)}, O God, my heart is fixed{H8737)}: I will sing{H8799)} and give praise{H8762)}.

Awake up{H8798)}, my glory; awake{H8798)}, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake{H8686)} early.

I will praise{H8686)} thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing{H8762)} unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

Be thou exalted{H8798)}, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
