Reward

Jesus puts it plainly in Luke 6:35: “love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great.” Scripture’s idea of reward is seldom a bargain struck for gain. Paul says each worker “shall receive his own reward according to his own labour” (1 Corinthians 3:8), and Hebrews 11:26 says Moses counted reproach with God’s people worth more than the treasures of Egypt, because he looked ahead to the recompense. Christians read these promises in different ways, but the passages agree on one thing: what is done for God is seen, and it is not forgotten. Matthew 25 shows the same idea at greater length.
