Indecision
Elijah faced a crowd that wanted it both ways and asked, “How long halt ye between two opinions?” (1 Kings 18:21). Then comes a quiet line: the people “answered him not a word.” Other verses here worry over the same problem. James says that anyone who asks God while wavering “is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed,” and the church in Revelation 3 is told that being neither cold nor hot is worse than choosing. Psalm 119, with its “I will keep thy statutes,” shows the opposite: a choice made once and made again each day.
