Praise

Praise is speaking well of God out loud, often with music. The Psalms end on a crescendo, with the final line “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD” (Psalm 150:6). Miriam sings after the Red Sea crossing, and Paul and Silas sing in a prison cell at midnight, so praise follows rescue and also arrives before it. In these passages it is as much a decision as a feeling, and it is meant for everyone, not only the musical.
