Swiftness is the point in these verses, and the KJV reaches for the roe, a small wild deer, and the hart. Of Asahel, 2 Samuel 2:18 says he “was as light of foot as a wild roe”. David’s Gadite soldiers are “as swift as the roes upon the mountains”. Proverbs 6:5 borrows the picture for someone in debt: “Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter”. The Song of Solomon sends the beloved off like a roe or young hart. Deuteronomy 12:15 also lists the roebuck and the hart as meat that is fair to eat. Proverbs 6:1-5 gives the fullest scene.
