Verdict
A verdict is what a judge or crowd decides, and these verses give the most famous one in the New Testament. The council asked, “What think ye?” and answered, “He is guilty of death.” Pilate saw that he could do nothing, took water, washed his hands and said, “I am innocent of the blood of this just person.” The crowd cried back, “His blood be on us, and on our children.” Then he released Barabbas, scourged Jesus and handed him over, giving sentence as they required. Matthew 27 tells it in a few spare lines.

What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
Mark
And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
Luke
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
