Fragrance, a town of Reuben, east of Jordan (Num. 32:38).
Shibmah
Shibmah is a town east of the Jordan, and the Bible spells it more than one way. Joshua lists “Sibmah” in a run of place names. Numbers names Shibmah with Nebo and Baalmeon, “their names being changed,” and says other names were given to the cities that were built. Isaiah later mourns for it: “I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah.” So the town is remembered for its vineyards and for grief when the harvest fails. Isaiah 16 is the passage to read.

Numbers

Joshua
And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zarethshahar in the mount of the valley,
Isaiah
For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
