Olivet

Jesus kept coming back to one hill east of Jerusalem. From the mount of Olives he sent two disciples ahead for a colt (Mark 11:1). He taught in the temple by day and at night “abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives” (Luke 21:37). There his disciples asked privately, “what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” After the last supper they sang a hymn and went out to the same hill. Acts calls it Olivet and says it lies a sabbath day’s journey from the city. Matthew 24 is where to hear his answer.

Matthew 21:1

And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

Matthew 24:3

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Matthew 26:30

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
