[NAHSHON, OR NAASHON]
Naashon
Elisheba, Aaron’s wife, had a brother named Naashon, or Nahshon. He was the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah. In Numbers he is the “captain of the children of Judah” when the camp pitches on the east side, and he brings the first offering when the altar is dedicated (Numbers 7). His name is also in the family line of Jesus, spelled Naasson in Matthew 1:4 and Luke 3:32. Numbers 7 is the best place to see him at work.

And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

Numbers 1:7
Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Numbers 2:3
And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

And he that offered his offering the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah:
