(fount of judgment). (Genesis 14:7) [KADESH, KADESHBARNEA]
En-Mishpat
Kadesh is a place the story keeps returning to. Genesis 14:7 gives it a second name: “Enmishpat, which is Kadesh.” Abraham lived for a time between Kadesh and Shur. Later Israel’s scouts came back to Kadesh from the land of Canaan, carrying fruit to show the whole congregation. Miriam died there and was buried there, and Joshua’s victories are measured from Kadeshbarnea to Gaza. It is a plain waypoint, not a teaching, but it ties together the years of wandering. Follow it through Numbers 13 and 20 and watch what happens each time Israel arrives.
