Pen
Writing in the Bible is done with whatever hard or fine tool the moment needs. Job wishes his words were “graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever.” The psalmist, with a heart full of a good matter, says his tongue is “the pen of a ready writer,” while Jeremiah turns the image against Judah, saying that the scribes’ pen has been used in vain and that sin is written with a pen of iron. Isaiah is told to take a great roll and write on it with a man’s pen. Judges 5 even mentions those who handle the writer’s pen among Zebulun’s people.
