Malchiel
Malchiel is a grandson of Asher, and he is named only in family records. Genesis 46 lists him among the sons of Beriah as the family goes down to Egypt, Numbers 26 counts “the family of the Malchielites” among the tribe, and 1 Chronicles 7 calls him the father of Birzavith. The record offers no story, only a line of names, but the line shows how a family became a clan and how Israel kept track of each one.
