Mahalaleel

Mahalaleel sits in the long list of the first generations, a man whose whole life is told in a few lines. He lived sixty and five years, then became the father of Jared. After that came “sons and daughters,” and finally his death at eight hundred ninety and five. Nothing more is said of what he did. The same name appears in Chronicles, among the earliest ancestors, and again in Nehemiah, where a descendant of Judah’s line is called a son of a later Mahalaleel. Genesis 5 is the place to read his entry, set among the other names around him.

Genesis 5:12

And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:

And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:
