The inhabitants of a thirsty or scorched land; the Lybians, an African nation under tribute to Egypt (2 Chr. 12:3; 16:8). Their territory was apparently near Egypt. They were probably the Mizraite Lehabim.
Lubims
Lubims is an old King James spelling for the Libyans, a people of North Africa. They appear mainly as soldiers. In 2 Chronicles 12:3 the king of Egypt comes against Jerusalem with chariots and horsemen, and the Lubims march in his army. Jeremiah speaks of “the Libyans, that handle the shield,” and Ezekiel names Libya among nations that will fall by the sword. There is a quieter note in Acts 2:10, where people from “the parts of Libya about Cyrene” are listening in Jerusalem.
