(possession) = CAINAN, the son of Enos. (1 Chronicles 1:2)
Kenan
Kenan, spelled Cainan in some places, sits in the long family line between Adam and Noah. Genesis 5 gives his life in three short lines: he lived seventy years and had a son, Mahalaleel, then lived on and “begat sons and daughters,” and “he died.” The same refrain closes the entry of nearly every person in that chapter. His name reappears in the opening of 1 Chronicles and again in the family tree Luke gives for Jesus (Luke 3:36). Beyond his place in the line, Scripture tells almost nothing more about him.
