Interpreter
Dreams and foreign tongues both need an interpreter, and the Bible has several. Pharaoh’s servants in prison say of their dreams, “there is no interpreter of it,” and Joseph answers, “Do not interpretations belong to God?” (Genesis 40:8). Later he speaks to his brothers through an interpreter, and they do not know he understands them. In Nehemiah, the Levites read the law and “gave the sense” so the people could follow it. Paul lists the interpretation of tongues among the gifts of the Spirit. Genesis 40 and 41 are the clearest place to watch interpretation done and credited to God.
