Hori

Hori is a name used for two different people. In Genesis 36:22, a son of Lotan is called Hori, and the Edomite chiefs are said to have come “of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.” The Horites lived in Seir before Esau’s family, so the name belongs to the land as much as to a man. In Numbers 13:5 another Hori is the father of Shaphat, whom Moses sent to search out Canaan for the tribe of Simeon. Scripture says little more, so the verses simply place the name, once in the hills of Edom and once among the spies.
