Enclosed. (1.) One of the sons of Reuben (Gen. 46:9; Ex. 6:14). (2.) The older of the two sons of Pharez (Gen. 46:12). (3.) A plain in the south of Judah, west of Kadesh-barnea (Josh. 15:3).
Hezron
Hezron is a name that turns up in two of Israel’s families. One Hezron is a son of Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, listed when the family went down to Egypt. The other is a son of Pharez, in the line of Judah, and his descendants are called the Hezronites in the counting of the tribes at the end of the wilderness years. First Chronicles opens its long record of Judah’s sons with him as well. The verses are lists, plain and brief, but they show how carefully each household was remembered. Genesis 46 and Numbers 26 are the best places to see both men named.
