Gera

Gera was a family name among the people of Benjamin, and it is attached to a handful of men in Scripture. One was among Benjamin’s sons in Genesis 46. Another was the father of Ehud, the left-handed deliverer whom the LORD raised up when Israel cried out (Judges 3:15). The best known is Shimei son of Gera, who cursed David as he fled Jerusalem and then fell down before him at the Jordan once the king was returning (2 Samuel 16:5; 19:18). The name mostly marks a family line, and these verses are a small thread of it.

(a grain), one of the "sons," i.e. descendants, of Benjamin. (Genesis 46:21) Gera, who is named, (Judges 3:15) as the ancestor of Ehud, and in (2 Samuel 16:5) as the ancestor of Shimei who cursed David, is probably also the same person (though some consider them different persons).
