A stadium, a Greek measure of distance equal to 606 feet and 9 inches (Luke 24:13; John 6:19; 11:18; Rev. 14:20; 21:16).
Furlong
How far is it? Several times the Bible answers in furlongs. Two travellers walked on the day of the resurrection to a village called Emmaus, “about threescore furlongs” from Jerusalem. John gives the distance from Jerusalem to Bethany as “about fifteen furlongs off.” And in Revelation an angel measures the city of the vision with a reed and finds it “twelve thousand furlongs,” with length, breadth and height equal. So the same unit measures a walk home, a village near the city, and the city that has no earthly counterpart. Luke 24 is the friendliest place to start.
