Zibeon
A small, quiet detail is tucked into a long Edomite family list. Zibeon was one of the sons of Seir the Horite. Genesis 36 names him among the dukes, and Chronicles repeats him. The one glimpse of his daily life is that his son Anah “found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.” So behind the names is a family with animals to tend, not only a title to count. It is easy to skim past such lines, but they remind us that the Bible records ordinary households.

These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,

And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.
