Snuffers
Even the smallest fittings of the temple are counted. Snuffers sit in the lists beside bowls, basons and spoons, made “of pure gold” for the house Solomon built (1 Kings 7:50). Years later, when the house is being repaired, the money brought in is not spent on making silver snuffers or bowls for it (2 Kings 12:13). And when Jerusalem falls, the snuffers are among “all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered” that are taken away (2 Kings 25:14). The same short list of objects tells the story of the temple’s rise and loss.

And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple.

Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:
