Flame of the Lord, a priest whose name is prominent in connection with the work carried on by Ezra and Nehemiah at Jerusalem (Ezra 8:17, 18, 24-30; Neh. 8:7; 9:4, 5; 10:12).
Sherebiah
Sherebiah was a Levite, and every time he appears he is doing something for the people of God. When Ezra needed priests for the journey back to Jerusalem, a “man of understanding” came forward, and Sherebiah and his sons and brethren were part of the company. Later he stands among the Levites who “caused the people to understand the law” while the people stood in their place. He is also named among those who sealed the covenant and who led thanksgiving. Nehemiah 8 shows him at his best, helping ordinary people grasp what they were hearing.
