Prince, or summit, a place “in the land of Ephraim” (Judg. 12:15), now Fer’on, some 10 miles south-west of Shechem. This was the home of Abdon the judge.
Pirathon
Pirathon is a town known through the men who came from it. Abdon the son of Hillel, “a Pirathonite, judged Israel,” and Benaiah the Pirathonite appears among David’s mighty men and later as captain over a monthly course of twenty-four thousand soldiers. Benaiah is said to be of the children of Ephraim. The town itself is never described, and there is no story set there, only these names carrying its name along. Judges 12:13-15 and 1 Chronicles 27:14 are the places to see it, and a Pirathonite is simply someone from Pirathon.
