Parosh

Parosh is a family name more than a single man. In the long registers of Ezra and Nehemiah, “the children of Parosh” are counted at “two thousand an hundred seventy and two,” the same figure in both books. Ezra 8 spells the name Pharosh and records a man named Zechariah, with a hundred and fifty males reckoned by genealogy. Nehemiah 10 lists Parosh among “the chief of the people.” These are ordinary households, remembered by name because each one was counted. If you want to see them, Ezra 2:1-3 comes first.
