Mattithiah was a name among Levite musicians and helpers. In 1 Chronicles 15 he is one of the men who play “with harps on the Sheminith to excel” when David’s people bring the ark up to Jerusalem, and he also appears among the porters. Years later, in Nehemiah 8, a Mattithiah stands at Ezra’s right hand when the scribe reads the law from a wooden pulpit to the gathered people. The Bible does not say whether these are the same man.
