Mashal

Mashal was a town in the territory of Asher, and the Bible records it as one of the cities set apart for the Levites. Joshua 21 and 1 Chronicles 6 both name it, with its suburbs, beside Abdon. Joshua 19 spells it a little differently as Misheal, in the list of Asher’s border towns, reaching toward Carmel on the west. These are mostly lists, and they say nothing more about the place itself. They do show that the Levites had towns of their own scattered among the tribes. Read Joshua 21 for the full list of those towns.
