Jozabad
Jozabad is one name worn by several men in the lists Scripture keeps, and these four verses catch him at work in the life of Israel. In Hezekiah’s day a Jozabad is among those who served as overseers of the temple gifts (2 Chronicles 31:13). Another stands among the Levites in Nehemiah 8:7, helping the people to understand the law as it is read aloud. A Josabad is counted among David’s mighty men in 1 Chronicles 12:4, and a Levite Jozabad appears in Ezra 10:23. The text does not say whether these are the same man, so it is best to read each one in his own setting.

(5.) A Levite, son of Jeshua, in the days of Ezra. (Ezra 8:33) (B.C. 459.) Probably identical with No. 7.
