Helez
Helez is a name that belongs to two different men in the verses gathered here. In 2 Samuel 23:26 and 1 Chronicles 11:27, Helez the Paltite, also called the Pelonite, is listed among the mighty men who served David, a long roll of soldiers who are each given a line. In 1 Chronicles 2:39 a Helez appears in a family line of Judah: Azariah begat Helez, and Helez begat Eleasah. Scripture says nothing more about either man. The honest picture is a loyal fighter and a link in a family chain, remembered by name only.
