Fir Tree

Fir shows up where beauty and worship meet. The floor of the temple’s inner house was covered with “planks of fir,” and the two doors were “of fir tree,” each with folding leaves. In 2 Samuel 6, David and all Israel play “before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood.” The text does not say why fir was chosen, only that it was used for places and instruments of worship. Start at 1 Kings 6:15 and then read 2 Samuel 6:5.
