Dishan
Dishan is a name that sits in a family list, and the list rewards a slow read. Genesis 36 sets out the sons of Seir, who lived in the land of Edom, and calls them “the dukes of the Horites.” Dishan appears with his brothers Dishon and Ezer, once in verse 21 and again in verse 30. First Chronicles 1:38 repeats the line of Seir’s sons. The Bible tells us nothing else about Dishan himself, but the lists show how carefully the Bible keeps track of Esau’s neighbours.
