Booz
Booz is simply the KJV’s New Testament spelling of the name Boaz. In Matthew’s list of Jesus’ ancestors we read “Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth,” so this man sits in the family line that leads to David and to Christ. The same name appears in Jerusalem, where Solomon’s temple stands with two pillars, one on the right hand and “the other on the left,” and the one on the left is called Boaz. A family name and a temple pillar share one word. Matthew 1:5 is the place to begin.
