Beaten Work
Some of the tabernacle’s finest pieces were hammered from solid gold rather than cast or carved. The two cherubim at the ends of the mercy seat were made “of beaten work”, and the lampstand, with its shaft, branches, bowls and flowers, was “one beaten work of pure gold.” Moses had been shown a pattern, and the craftsmen followed it. The same chapters add a gentler note: some of the incense was to be crushed, for God said “thou shalt beat some of it very small” before it was set where he would meet Moses. Exodus
And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.
And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:
Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it was one beaten work of pure gold.

And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.
