Lord of grace. (1.) A king of Edom, son of Achbor (Gen. 36:38, 39; 1 Chr. 1:49, 50).
(2.) An overseer of “the olive trees and sycomore trees in the low plains” (the Shephelah) under David (1 Chr. 27:28).
Baal-Hanan
Baal-hanan is the name of two men, one a king and one a servant of the king. The first, the son of Achbor, takes the throne of Edom after Saul, and the record notes that “Baalhanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead” (Genesis 36:39). The second is a Gederite in David’s service, set “over the olive trees and the sycomore trees” in the low plains (1 Chronicles 27:28). A throne in one case, a grove of olives in the other. Both are mentioned briefly. Genesis 36 lists Edom’s kings.
