Azem

Azem is a small town in the south of Judah, one of the places listed when Joshua divides the land. It shows up in the tribe of Judah’s cities toward Edom’s border, “Baalah, and Iim, and Azem” (Joshua 15:29), and again among the towns given to Simeon, whose share sat inside Judah’s (Joshua 19:3). Chronicles lists it once more, spelled Ezem, among Simeon’s settlements (1 Chronicles 4:29). Nothing else is told about it. The Bible simply keeps the name on the map, as one of many ordinary places where families lived. Joshua 15 is the place to see it.
