Atrophy

A man’s hand had withered, and he stood in front of people looking for a reason to accuse Jesus. Matthew 12 tells how Jesus answered with a plain question about a sheep fallen into a pit, then asked, “How much then is a man better than a sheep?” He told the man to stretch out his hand, and it “was restored whole, like as the other.” The wasting of the limb is the problem; the passage is mostly about mercy on the sabbath. Start with Matthew 12:9 and read to the end of the scene.
