Ahilud is known only as a father, yet his son held a trusted post. Jehoshaphat, “the son of Ahilud”, is named as the recorder, the one who kept the king’s records, first under David and again under Solomon. The lists in 2 Samuel and 1 Kings set him beside Joab over the army and the scribes, priests and officers of the court, so he appears as part of a working government rather than a figure of drama. The same line is repeated in 1 Chronicles 18. The clearest list to read is 1 Kings 4:1-6, which shows who served Solomon.
