Receding, the second of the two sons of Merari (Ex. 6:19; Num. 3:20). His sons were called Mushites (Num. 3:33; 26:58).
Mushi
Mushi was a Levite, the second son of Merari and a grandson of Levi. His name is quietly listed in Exodus 6 and 1 Chronicles 6, where the families of Levi are counted by who their fathers were. Mushi and his brother Mahli gave their names to family lines inside the tribe whose work was caring for the tabernacle and, later, the house of God. He does not speak or act in any story. The Bible simply wants his place in the family remembered, along with the line of those who served.
