Friendship of Jehovah, a Levite of the family of the Korhites, called also Shelemiah (1 Chr. 9:21; 26:1, 2, 9, 14). He was a temple gate-keeper in the time of David.
Meshelemiah
Somebody has to keep the door. Meshelemiah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph and of the Korhites, belongs to the divisions of the porters in 1 Chronicles 26, and his son Zechariah is porter of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Meshelemiah’s sons are named one by one, and his sons and brethren are called strong men, eighteen in all. The chronicler takes the time to record a family whose work was to stand at the entrance of the house of God and watch over it.
