Mahath

Mahath is a name that passes quietly through the Levites’ records. One Mahath is listed in the family line of Elkanah, the line from which Samuel’s descendants come in 1 Chronicles 6. Another, the son of Amasai, rises with the Levites in Hezekiah’s day to cleanse the house of God, and a Mahath is also named among the overseers who looked after the gifts brought in at the king’s command. The Bible does not say whether these are one man or two. Read 2 Chronicles 29 to see the work they did, when the temple was opened and made ready again.
