Laadan
Laadan was a Levite in the family of Gershon, one of the three branches that served in the house of God. Chronicles lists him among the heads of the fathers in the time of David: “Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.” His sons are named, and later the family is linked to the keepers of the treasures. Such lists can feel dry, yet they show that the work around the temple was shared out among named households, each with a place. The Bible keeps these names because the people behind them mattered to God. First Chronicles 23 is the place to find Laadan.
