I Am That I Am
Moses stood before a burning bush and asked God what to say when the Israelites asked who had sent him. God answered, “I AM THAT I AM,” and told him to say, “I AM hath sent me unto you.” The name points to a God who simply is, not made by anyone and not dependent on anything. The same thought echoes in Revelation, where Christ says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last,” and John speaks of the one “which is, and which was, and which is to come.” Exodus 3 is the place to begin.
